All pupils joined in a rap writing session and performed their work within groups. They also put together food hampers supporting the Besom project. The workshops were based on 1 Timothy 4 v12 ‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity’.

The Archbishop said:

“The word education comes from a Latin word ‘educare’ which means to draw out. God has created each one with the ability to make a positive difference in the world. We just need to have faith in God and what he has created each one of us to be. The workshops today have focused on how best to draw this out for these young students.”

Dan Finn, Director of the Youth Trust, said

“Today has been about words and actions. During the day we have been inspiring children to see how they can use their words and actions to change the world. We have focused on leadership skills and giving these young people the confidence so that they can be the change they want to see.”

Local primary schools in attendance included Hob Moor, Burton Green, Tang Hall, Huntington, Yearsley Grove and Carr Lane.
