On Thursday 21st June, the Archbishop of York Youth Trust will host a regional conference, at Rochdale Town Hall, OL16 1AB, for primary Headteachers across the Diocese of Manchester.

The conference, delivered in partnership with the Diocese of Manchester, will provide an opportunity for Primary School Headteachers in church schools to learn more about the Young Leaders Award delivered at Key Stage 2 and to share in the experiences of those completing the Award.

Rozy Brian, Strategic Lead for Primary Awards, said;

“We are delighted to be sharing the Young Leaders Award with more schools in the Manchester area.  We look forward to sharing how taking part in the Award can empower pupils to develop in character and leadership and to make a difference in their communities.”

Joining members of the Youth Trust team on the day will be Canon Maurice Smith, Director of Education for the Diocese of Manchester and Bishop Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton who will deliver the keynote speech.  Delegates will also hear from Dawn Frost and pupils from St Edward’s Church of England Primary School who will be presenting their work.

Mrs A Petrie, the Deputy Headteacher at St Edwards Church of England primary school said:

“The children are more aware of their community and how they can have a positive effect on it. They are showing more empathy of the wider world which is helping prepare them to be better Global Citizens”.

The Rt Revd Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton said:

“I am very much looking forward to the conference and to celebrating the wonderful ways in which the Young Leaders Award is equipping our young people to live out the Christian values that lie at the heart of our Church of England schools, enabling them to be the difference they long to seek, to bring transformation to their communities and to live in the fullness of life.”
